Privacy Policy

Lumio is an interest-based social app for meeting new people and building genuine, respectful connections around shared interests — language, culture, travel, movies, sports, music, food and books. Your safety and privacy come first. This policy explains what information we handle, how we keep the community safe, and the choices and controls you have, including deleting your account at any time.

1. Introduction

Lumio ("the App", "we", "our") helps people meet and connect over shared interests and activities. Instead of swiping on photos, members share a connection intent — the reason they want to connect — and discover others who are looking for the same kind of friendly, real-world connection.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and to keeping Lumio a safe, welcoming community. This policy describes the information we process, why we process it, and how you stay in control of it.

2. Information We Process

We process only what is needed to run the service and keep it safe:

  • Profile information: your display name, optional profile photo, gender, the interests you select, and your connection intents.
  • Messages & activity: the messages you send to people you connect with, and basic activity such as connections you make.
  • Safety information: reports and blocks you submit, which our team uses to review and act on policy violations.
  • Device & technical data: device type, operating system version, app version, and identifiers used for analytics and security.
  • Approximate usage data: anonymous, aggregated metrics that help us understand which features are used and fix problems.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • Show you relevant people based on the interests and intents you choose.
  • Enable connections, messaging, and the in-app discovery game.
  • Keep the community safe — detecting, reviewing, and acting on reports, blocks, spam, and abuse.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Safety & Moderation

Lumio is built to be a respectful, secure place to meet people. To protect members:

  • Report: you can report any profile or conversation. Every report is reviewed by our team.
  • Block: you can block someone at any time; once blocked, they are hidden from you and can no longer reach you.
  • Zero tolerance: harassment, hate, nudity, sexual solicitation, impersonation, and any content involving minors are strictly prohibited and may result in removal.
  • Human review: reports may be reviewed by trained moderators to keep the community healthy.

We retain limited safety records (such as reports and block history) for as long as needed to keep members safe and enforce our policies.

5. Camera, Microphone & Photos

Some features ask for device permissions. They are optional and used only for the stated purpose:

  • Camera: to take a profile photo, and for video calls between members.
  • Microphone: for voice and video calls.
  • Photo Library: to choose a profile picture from your gallery.

You can grant or revoke any of these at any time in your device Settings. Denying a permission simply disables the related feature; the rest of the app keeps working.

6. Notifications

With your permission, Lumio sends push notifications — for example when you receive a new message or connection. We use a device push token to deliver these. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device Settings.

7. Analytics & Attribution

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the App:

  • Analytics & messaging (Google Firebase): to deliver notifications, measure app stability, and understand aggregate, non-identifying usage.
  • Attribution (Adjust): to understand, in aggregate, how people discover Lumio, using mobile measurement identifiers.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments. Where required, we ask for your permission (for example, App Tracking Transparency) before using advertising identifiers.

8. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service and keep the community safe. You can delete your account at any time from Profile > Settings > Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your profile, photo, interests, connection intents, and connections.

Limited records may be retained where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce safety policies (for example, to prevent a removed user from returning).

9. Your Choices & Rights

  • Edit your profile: update your name, photo, interests, and intents anytime in the Profile tab.
  • Manage permissions: change camera, microphone, photo, and notification access in device Settings.
  • Report or block: use the built-in tools whenever you feel unsafe or see a violation.
  • Delete your account: erase your data from Settings at any time.
  • Access & requests: depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data — contact us and we will help.

10. Children's Privacy

Lumio is intended for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 17 years old (or the age of digital consent or majority required in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater) to use the App. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under this age. If you believe a minor is using Lumio, please contact us so we can take action.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves or to meet legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated in the App where appropriate.
