Your safety comes first

Lumio is a respectful community for meeting people through shared interests. You can report any profile or conversation and block anyone at any time — blocked members are hidden and can no longer reach you. Our team reviews every report. Never share financial information, and meet new people in public places when you choose to take a connection offline.

Setting up your profile

After onboarding, open the Profile tab to add a photo, set your name, and choose your interests. Tap your avatar (or the camera icon) to add a profile picture from your camera or photo library. A clear, friendly photo and a few interests help you find better connections.

Choosing interests & intents

Lumio matches on purpose, not just photos. For each interest — language, culture, travel, movies, sports, music, food, or books — you pick connection intents (for example, "Practice speaking" or "Find a walking partner"). You can update these anytime from the Profile tab.

Discovering & connecting

In the Discover tab you'll see connection cards that show what each person is looking for. Tap connect to reach out, or pass to move on. When you connect, a chat opens with friendly conversation starters so it never feels like an empty inbox.

The "Who Said It?" game

The Mystery tab shows an anonymous note from a real member alongside a few profiles. Guess who wrote it — if you're right, you can start a chat that opens with their note. It's a fun, low-pressure way to break the ice.

Voice & video calls

Inside a conversation, tap the phone icon for a voice call or the video icon for a video call. Calls require microphone access (and camera for video). You can grant these in your device Settings if you're prompted.

Reporting someone

If something feels off, open the conversation's menu and tap Report, then choose a reason. You can also report directly from a profile card in Discover. Every report is reviewed by our team, and we act on violations of our guidelines.

Blocking someone

Open the conversation menu and tap Block. The person is immediately hidden from your experience, your conversation is removed, and they can no longer contact you. You don't need to report someone in order to block them.

Notifications

Turn notifications on to know when you get a new message or connection. You can enable or disable them anytime in Settings > Lumio > Notifications on your device.

Editing or removing your photo

Tap your profile avatar to change or remove your photo. Photos are stored on your device for your profile; you're always in control and can update them whenever you like.

Deleting your account

Go to Profile > Settings > Delete Account. This permanently erases your profile, photo, interests, intents, and connections. This action can't be undone.
